"Mera Jism Meri Merzi and Aurat March"


A term coined in "Aurat March 2019" against Patriarchy in Pakistan.The slogan raised has been misinterpreted by psuedo intellectuals ,who are often seen on social and electronic media stigmatizing woman's role and intersectionality.

The overwhelmed feelings of chauvinist men of conservative society of ours are hurted ,their chest thumping ego plummeted as they opinionate and confine the slogan to sexual whims of women however it is broad if thought out of box.The problem is patriarchal men dont even know what is inside the box.

To construe : this slogan embodies the will of women to work and utilise her phsyical strengthen in accordance with her desires.It is a NO to men who thinks women a commodity not an entity of a progressive society.It is to warn man not to throw acid on her if she rejects him.An alert not to marry anyone against her choice.A red light to a Rapist.Mera jism meri merzi is ok with a man who dresses,shaves,cut his hair as per his wishes so why is it an issue with a woman ?

The backlash witnessed on social/electronic media by proponents of Khalil ur Rehman against Marvi Sirmad authenticates women to be domesticated.Though Marvi intervened him in the liveshow following her legacy which was against decorum and ethics yet the way Khalil commented on her physical oreination and appearance represents how helpless women are if they lack a perfect figure or women are ought to be insulted and disrespected if they voice their silence.

Some of the pages made Khalil as vigilante and carte blanche to badmouth women whatever he thinks which is another low.We need to understand women need room and space being wife ,daughter ,mother and sister.Men cant shoved down the perceptions of theirs' down her throat against her will.She knows her limits far better.

For the folks going mad every now and then,have a glimpse of our society where honor killings have soared,wage gap is increasing,gender inequality in education,health sector is considered normal.Child abuse,rapes are either not reported or ignored.In such a situation Aurat March is a dire need of time.Moreover it has been allowed by Supreme Court under article 25 and 26.Being antithetic is directly contempt of court.

To supress women behind the facade of religion must be criticized openly.Gratitude to those who are up against scared macho-men of our society.
